HAL ACKERMAN is co-area head of the UCLA Screenwriting program and author of the widely acclaimed book Write Screenplays That Sell...The Ackerman Way. As a writer, Hal has sold material to major studios, independents and the three networks. Writers he has mentored have written A Walk On The Moon (Pamela Gray), Terminal, (Sacha Gervasi, The Machinist (Scott Kosar) Matchstick Men (Nicholas Griffin) and many others Over the last decade, a dozen screenplays written in his classes have been sold and six have become films including ones starring Tom Hanks (directed by Steven Spielberg), Gwyneth Paltrow, Hillary Swank and Diane Lane.
